Hazards and Protection.
Storage
Do not store in direct sunlight. Store in a tightly closed container. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances. Keep away from water. Keep away from organic halogens. Corrosives area. Loosen closure cautiously before opening.

Handling
Wash thoroughly after handling. Use with adequate ventilation. Loosen closure cautiously before opening. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Do not ingest or inhale.
Protection
Eyes: Wear chemical goggles and a face shield. Skin: Wear impervious gloves. Clothing: Wear appropriate protective gloves to prevent skin exposure.
Respirators
Follow the OSHA respirator regulations found in 29CFR 1910.134 or European Standard EN 149. Always use a NIOSH or European Standard EN 149 approved respirator when necessary.
Small spills/leaks
Vacuum or sweep up material and place into a suitable disposal container. Clean up spills immediately, using the appropriate protective equipment. Avoid generating dusty conditions. Remove all sources of ignition. Use a spark-proof tool. Do not expose spill to water.
Disposal code

Stability
Stable under normal shipping and handling conditions.
Incompatibilities
Reacts violently with water, forming hydrogen chloride gas and hydrochloric acid. Reacts with allyl chloride ethylene, ethylene oxide, nitrobenzene, phenol, nitromethane and organic matter, oxygen difluoride, perchloryl fluoride, benzene, potassium sodium water.
Decomposition
Hydrogen chloride, aluminum oxide.

Fire.
Fire fighting
Do not use water on material itself. If large quantities of combustibles are involved, use water in flooding quantities as spray and fog. Use water spray to knock-down vapors.
Fire potential
May burn but not ignite readily. May ignite combustibles (wood, paper, oil, clothing, etc.).
Hazards
Reacts violently with water used in extinguishing adjacent fires
Combustion products
Reacts violently with water, liberating hydrogen chloride gas and heat.

Exposure effects
Aluminum accumulates in brain tissue and is a neurotoxic agent. Ataxia and seizures have been reported following ingestions and in patients with compromised renal function receiving bladder irrigations. Mental status changes, including obtundation, lethargy and confusion, may occur.
   Ingestion
Causes gastrointestinal tract burns. May cause corrosion and permanent tissue destruction of the esophagus and digestive tract.
   Inhalation
Causes delayed lung injury. Causes severe irritation of upper respiratory tract with coughing, burns, breathing difficulty, and possible coma.
   Skin
Contact with skin causes irritation and possible burns, especially if the skin is wet or moist.
   Eyes
Causes severe eye burns.

First aid

   Ingestion
Do NOT induce vomiting. If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water. Get medical aid immediately.
   Inhalation
Get medical aid immediately. Remove from exposure to fresh air immediately. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen.
   Skin
Get medical aid immediately. Immediately flush skin with plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse. Destroy contaminated shoes.
   Eyes
Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid immediately.
