Hazards and Protection.
Keep in a cool, dry, dark location in a tightly sealed container or cylinder. Keep away from incompatible materials, ignition sources and untrained individuals. Secure and label area. Protect containers/cylinders from physical damage.
All chemicals should be considered hazardous. Avoid direct physical contact. Use appropriate, approved safety equipment. Untrained individuals should not handle this chemical or its container. Handling should occur in a chemical fume hood.
Wear appropriate protective gloves, clothing and goggles.
Wear positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
Keep sparks, flames, and other sources of ignition away. Keep material out of water sources and sewers. Land spill: Dig a pit, pond, lagoon, holding area to contain liquid or solid material. Cover solids with a plastic sheet to prevent dissolving in rain or fire fighting water. Dike surface flow using soil, sand bags, foamed polyurethane, or foamed concrete. Water spill: Use natural barriers or oil spill control booms to limit spill travel. Use natural deep water pockets, excavated lagoons, or sand bag barriers to trap material at bottom. Remove trapped material with suction hoses.
If mixed with alkyl esters, owing to the formation of alkyl nitrates Mixtures with phosphorus, tin(II) chloride or other reducing agents
Flood with water. Cool all affected containers with flooding quantities of water. Apply water from as far a distance as possible.
May explode from friction, heat or contamination. These substances will accelerate burning when involved in a fire.
May ignite combustibles (wood, paper, oil, clothing, etc.). Some will react explosively with hydrocarbons (fuels).
Toxic and irritating oxides of nitrogen may form in fires.
May cause severe injury, burns, or death.
Seek medical assistance.
Move to fresh air.
Remove and isolate contaminated clothing and shoes. Immediately flush skin or eyes with running water for at least 20 minutes.
Flush with water for 15 min.
