Exposure effects
Gallium and gallium compounds may cause metallic taste, dermatitis and depression of the bone marrow function. Large doses may cause hemorrhagic nephritis. 2,4-Pentanedione (acetylacetone), if present or released, is harmful if swallowed, irritates the skin, and severely irritates the eyes. 2,4- Pentanedione has caused mutagenic and reproductive effects in laboratory animals and is also flammable. No information is known about the amount of free 2,4-pentanedione present in or released by this compound.
