Description
White solid, packaged under an inert gas.
Uses
A cell-permeable, non-toxic thiazolidine procysteine antioxidant that increases intracellular glutathione levels. Reported to minimize the oxidative damage in amyloid protein precursor ( APP)-mediated cell death. Also reported as a lead for the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Shown to protect the liver against ethanol-induced injury in rats. Also shown to inhibit HIV-1 replication in mononuclear phagocytes and lymphocytes. Induces insulin secretion in isolated pancreatic islets through CD38 dimerization and internalization.
